Kara DioGuardi, the American Idol judge who failed to cause much uproar when she exited that show, will be the head judge of new Bravo series Going Platinum, a 10-episode reality competition for singer-songwriters expected to bow next year.
According to Entertainment Weekly, DioGuardi will be joined by onetime star musician Jewel (who has served as a guest Idol judge herself), who will serve as host and provide additional feedback to contestants.
The series, originally entitled Hitmakers and currently in production in Los Angeles, follows 12 musicians as they compete in songwriting challenges across a variety of genres — from dance tracks to love ballads, per Bravo — and perform. The judges, not the viewing audience, will determine the winner; who those other judges are has yet to be decided. (Let's all start a Paula Abdul rumor, shall we??!?!?)
Top prize is $100,000 in cash; a publishing deal with Sony; and a recording deal with RCA/Jive.
