Five-time Grammy winner Celine Dion gave birth to twins Saturday afternoon. The twins, both boys, came a month early and were delivered at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
42-year-old, Dion, had been struggling to become pregnant for quiet some time. Dion and her husband-manager, Rene Angelil, have one son, 9-year-old Rene Charles. Dion has spoken openly about the difficulties she has had trying to get pregnant and her struggles with several rounds of in-vitro fertilization.
Earlier this year Dion said she hoped that by publicly sharing her struggle she could help others. "If I help people through my voice, through my interviews, through what I go through, I do not want to change that at all," she said. "I think it's making a difference."
The names of the twins have not been released but they are one month premature.  One boy weighed 5 pounds, 10 ounces, while the other weighed 5 pounds, 4 ounces.
Dion was admitted to the hospital this week as a precaution.
Is it becoming more and more common for women in their 40's to have children? Is this a growing trend that is further enabled by the expanded posibilities of in-vetro?
