Benny 2
In the morning Benny already up standing by the edge of Julies bed with his bowl in his mouth. He was trying to bark with the bowl in his mouth.
“My; my, you are up early today Benny, I will fill your bowl in a few minutes, you can take your bowl back to the kitchen,” said Julie.
As Julie put food in Benny’s bowl she tells him; “Today is going to be a busy day for you; today you graduate from your dog training class. You will be a certified therapy dog; you will be getting you vest that will say you are a therapy dog.”
Benny was jumping up and down on his hind legs for Julie to put his bowl down. He would bark a couple times; then jump up and down some more.
After Julie put the bowl down then she opened the box that the vest was in and held it up; “Look at this Benny,” she said. Benny looked up and started eating again; then he got a drink from his water dish, then ran to the door (barking on the way) so Julie would let him out.
“Benny you know you are not supposed to be running in the house,” said Julie as she opened the door. “You come right home when I call you. We will be going the Bayberry Manor after your graduation; they said you could go in the rooms when you were certified.”
Benny ran to where Mark had drawn a picture on the cement by the fountain. It looked like the cement had cracked and rose up; people would walk to that spot and step up so they wouldn’t trip on the crack. Mark was finishing up a drawing on the side the cement wall alongside the park. He did it once before and a jogger tried to run through it. This time he drew a barricade across in front of the opening. He put a sign on it that said, “Don’t jump over barricade,” just in case someone would try to jump it.
Benny sat in front of it and cocked his head from side to side. Then he heard Miss Molly calling the pidgins. He ran to where she was and the pidgins flew in different directions. Miss Molly scolded Benny for scaring them.
Benny jumped up on the bench beside Molly and put his head between his front paws, as he was petted by Molly.
Then he spotted her by the tulips; his ears perked up. He down from the bench real slow and got down as low as he could; towards where the white poodle was standing. Then rose up and ran as fast as he could; just as he was about to jump on her she moved. Benny ran into the tulips. Coming out of the tulips and shaking the wet dirt off because they were just watered.
Julie called Benny and he ran for home and his ears flapped up and down as he ran. Then he spotted a new drawing; he stopped. The drawing looked like a flower garden with a lot of pretty flowers in it.
Julie was about to call him again when he ran up on the porch. “You found the drawing the young lady was drawing last night; don’t remember seeing her out there before.”
“Just look at you all dirty; hope it will brush out okay, no time for a bath now,” said Julie.
Benny got in the car and sat in the backseat by the window; as Julie hooked his seat belt. “There you go safe and secure,” said Julie.
As they drive to; Baker Center, Julie tell Benny what he will be doing at the graduation, “You will have to lay by a little girl while she reads you a story, you will be working with Mrs. Larsen, she is going to have you open a door for her. Then Mr. Larsen is going have you get something out of the fridge for him. You will be picking up things people drop and a few more things; then you get to put on your graduation hat and get your Certified Therapy Diploma. After that we are going to see Mr. Clark who keeps telling us, “I will be moving up stairs soon.”
Arriving at Baker Center; Mr. and Mrs. Larsen are great everyone as they arrive. “Benny how’s my favorite student on this beautiful day,” said Mrs. Larsen. She greets everyone the same way; they are all her favorite student.
All the dogs did everything they were supposed to do to graduate; Mr. and Mrs. Larsen gave out the Diploma’s and gave each dog a big Milk bone biscuit.
On the way to Bayberry Manor Julie tells Benny, “When we get there you have to let me put your leash; that is the rules; just like at the hospital. We will be able to go into all the rooms from now on,” said Julie.
When they get to the hospital; Julie puts on Benny’s leash and he starts dragging her to the door. Julie stops tells Benny; “You get right back here and walk beside me. You know you are not supposed to take off like that; now that is a lot better, you walk right beside me.
Benny was headed to Mr. Clark’s room when Julie stopped him; “We have to check in at the front desk before we go up to Mr. Clark’s room Benny.
When they got to Mr. Clark’s room the found; him sitting in his rocker and that he had a roommate; “Well; good afternoon Benny this is my roommate, his name is George Washington. He is from Bay City,” said Mr. Clark.
“Nice to meet you all;” said George. This must be Benny that Mr. Clark has been telling me about. My; my, that is one fancy vest you are wearing. I heard you were graduating today.
Mr. Clark reaches down and picks Benny up in his lap. He begins petting and scratching Benny behind his ears. You won’t have to sneak up here anymore now that you graduated your training class; congratulations on graduating.
Benny and Julie walked down to the recreation room and Julie took Benny’s leash off and he ran right over to Mrs. Snodgrass; sat down in front of her to get her attention he barked a couple times.
“I hoped you would come today;” said Mrs. Snodgrass. “It has been a long time since you were here last. Nurse Kelly said you were learning how to be a therapy dog. I see you are wearing a fancy vest today.”
Benny walked closer to her licked her hand when she put it down for her. She scratched him behind his ears and patted him on top of his head.
Benny walked around the room letting everyone pet him; then Julie said it was time to go hooked the leash back on his collar.
The drive home seemed really fast; “You had a really busy day today Benny. You got to see your friends in the park; graduated from the therapy training. You went to visit your friends the Bayberry Manor; you even made some new friends.”
When they got home a Benny ate some food and got at drink he laid down and right to sleep and dreamed about everything he did that day.
