Wedding bells will ring for five of the rescued miners from Chile. The men proposed to their girl friends after their two month underground ordeal.
First Public Reunion Site of Multiple Miner Proposals
The five miners proposed to wives or girlfriends during a beach party late on Tuesday in the town of Caldera. The party marks the first time that the 33 rescued miners have been publically reunited. They spent 69 days underground together and were rescued last week.
Some of the miners will have church weddings with the common law wives like Esteban Rojas while others will marry their long-time girlfriends. Claudio Yanez told girlfriend Cristina Nunez, "After these 10 years we've spent together, now it's time for us to get married."
The men rose to the surface and have faced an unexpected world-wide celebrity. Their amazing story of survival has captured the imaginations and hearts of people everywhere. The miners’ weddings are sure to be much written about affairs. Hopefully they will find joy and happiness after their amazing rescue.
