Actor Tom Bosley, who was best known for his role as Howard Cunningham on the hit TV show "Happy Days," has died in Palm Springs at the age of 83.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tom Bosley died of heart failure, but had been suffering from lun
g cancer as well. Bosley played Howard Cunningham on "Happy Days" from 1974-1984, and went on to play numerous other television roles.
Tom Bosley played Sheriff Amos Tupper on "Murder, She Wrote," and Father Dowling in "The Father Dowling Mysteries."
TV Guide once voted Bosley as #9 on their list of "50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time"for his role on "Happy Days." The list was compiled in 2004.
Bosley Loved Playing Opposite "Happy Days" Cast Mates
Entertainment Weekly reports that Tom Bosley absolutely loved playing opposite his "Happy Days" co-stars Marion Ross, Ron Howard, and Henry Winkler. He was described by his former cast mates as being "the most modest and charming of actors."
The entertainment world has lost a great actor; one who perfected roles of down to earth characters and managed to exude love and kindness whether in person or in one of his roles. Tom Bosley will certainly be missed.
