Well, Michelle, I know personally of two families who get their kicks from "bleeding the system" for all it's worth.........they always seem to "rub it in" my face that they get this and that, FREE, FREE, FREE!
This one woman I know had breast cancer........she's had lots of operations.......all sorts of "physical problems." I asked her one time how many doctors she's got.......she has like six doctors and EIGHT specialists...........and, of course, she pays NOTHING!!!!!!
Then, I asked her how much it cost her to get new teeth......I need to get a set of "lowers." She got all new false teeth....but, of course, here's her reply....."Oh Medicaid paid it!" She had NO idea what they cost........but yet, when, and if, I get mine done, every lousy penny will come out of our pocket.
Michelle, we get "slapped in the face" a lot......with incidences like this "leech".
Oh yeah, and another family.....the woman "makes her living" by taking care of her disabled granddaughter.....she gets paid by the State.....say whaaaaaat????? If I had ANY disabled/elderly family member, I certainly would NOT take $$$$ to care for them......she's got a 38 yr. old son who lives at home with them....he doesn't work....the husband.....what a lazy bum.....he's on SSI and brags about it.

You know Nora, I feel sorry for these people - their lives are not as great as they would lead you to believe so we should be thankful for what we have and what health we have, and be happy... It's sad they think everything is about money... wealth and prosperity have no relationship to money - especially taking someone else's...

That is why these programs need to be stopped. We need to make these people so uncomfortable that they DO NOT Want to be on them. We need to take the power away from the gov't. If the states want to use their money for these programs, great, but with STEEP rules, and random visits, that way no one can mooch, oh yeah and unplanned visits. These people don't even come to your house when you apply. They NEVER see you. WHAT????!!!!! R U KIDDING ME????!!!!! That is absolutely absurd. These people need to realize nothing is free and they need to get back to work, or be homeless on the streets or let local charities help them. I refuse to let my tax money fund these UNCONSTITUTIONAL programs.

The government workers who "check up" on disabled recipients, get equal check PER CLIENT to what the client recipient gets. Then, they may also have a supervising goverment worker who gets additional money, plus a "nurse" to check whether they are taking their meds (based a the care takers record chart)

So, if a Foster Care Provider (may be a relative) receives, $1,200/mo, then there is probably close to $3,000.00 /ea client to the government workers.

So if a supervising contract government worker meets once a month with each FCP for 20 "clients", that intermediary worker is garnering about $20,400/mo.

Nobody checks on food stamp recipients. My hubby and i have had them for over a yr off and on, and we have never been visited not once. So there are no checks in place here in FL.

It is sad what has happened to our government over the years, I can remember when my step-sisters husband was out of work one winter and they had to go to the welfare for help, they were so ashamed and I can not say I blame them, at that time they gave them food, not stamps...so they couild sell them for 50% off the price and buy what ever they wanted they actually got food, they were on it about 3 months until he found work but it was a very trying time for the whole family to think someone was on welfare...I can remember when, my gosh that makes me feel old...some get it way to easy today, we had to work for what we got.

Yep, now they put it on a card, also to prevent sale of those. But still abuses happen, more often than not!

Around this area they sell there food cards for 50% of the actual price, so they are still scamming, then today I ran across this site that was telling how much money the bridge card people were useing from the card at casino's, now how does that happen, why can they use them at a casino?

They are not supposed to. That is nuts. I cannot believe it! This is insane. We need to abolish this system or put way strict enforcements in place.

what chaps my hide (yes I did just say that) is that I got cut off and they count me as a "success" even though I am with out medical coverage and we have more month left over than food, and I have to take time off what work I have to go to food banks. Several of which wont help me because I am not in the system, but they will give food for my kids.
This only leads me to believe the system in not only broken but stupid and wrong.

This is what I've seen.

"They" give you just enough to make sure you have to stay on it.

It seems like you can buy drugs or be a habitual drug abuser or alcoholic who barely knows if he/she has a job much less is able to go to one if they remember or care that they've got one .... and go gambling and whatever with food stamps (either above board or below the radar ... whatever) and you can stay on the dole for almost forever.

But, if anyone actually gets a job or is in school and keeping grades up and starts to look like they'll be getting ahead at all, or might be in a position to be able to get off the government dole .... 'they' ... "we" cut em off so eventually they ... you ... may have no choice but to go back on welfare.

If we are gonna help, we need to actually help and not cut people off at the knees if they get a half way decent job, keep it, and begin to get ahead a bit. If they aren't hopeless habitual druggies, or alkies, or habitual baby makers or aborters... give em some leeway and let them make enough to get out of the system rather than booting them before they are ready.

Michelle, you're right, our current welfare system in no longer for widows and orphans or truly aged or disabled. It is a self perpetuating reward system for the do nothings and scammers of society.

And for each recipient 3 X's that amount goes to government workers for "overseeing" the client's care.

There's a lot of talk about stopping the programs, but not much that offers solutions. That contributes to the problems getting worse. As is the obvious. I think a more soluble approach would be to look at the causes. Corporate America ( as well as the rest of the world), in my opinion, is probably the major cause of the problems. Look at all the people that are making BIG BUCKS off the sweat and blood of the working people - (people who actually work at physical laborthat makes them sweat, and at times bleed. And the overexertions lead to Bad Health. Yet those committing to such labor receive very little compensation. And others, who had nothing to do but collect money for the labor they had no part of, earn far more for just sitting at home or at the country club enjoying a high life on booze, sex, drugs, and inconsideration of others - except their own kind. Because they own shares of stock that pays them far more higher yields than the working laborers measly little paycheck that simply makes him a middleman for that pissy little amount of money. And to top that off, those shareholders have so many things supporting their endeavors, their corruption that is involved, and their abilities to manipulate things. They have such as ministeries preaching a "gospel" that is in their favor. Then they have government making legislation, that is in their favor. Then they have those who worship their image, that is in their favor. And guess what? They don't just want those people on their welfare programs, and things to stay the way they are regarding. They also want them on the drugs. And using their EBT cards at the casinos. Because that contributes to their wealth, as well.
So if you have money in anything that has to do with shareholding, borrowed money, 401k's, or any of such types of organizatons, you are contributing to the cause and effects.
Many have mentoned about those who don't want to work and would rather sit at home and live off the government. Well you would seerve the world better by looking at those who created such conditions. Because the fact is, they don't want to work and break a sweat either. That's why they creat4ed the conditions. And they concern themselves with having enough for their children's children's children's children's children's.......children, while depending on the corporate world to ge them there. But, the ones that should be getting slammed the least, the impoverished, are the ones that are slammed the most.
Yeah. Obamacare is all wrong. Democratcare is all wrong. And guess what? So is Republicancare. And guess what else? There is one thing left. Change. And that means Change to what is truly right, or else. And guess what then? The End!

The goverment is running this program and came up with this program. It was the liberals ideas. It is an unconstitutional program and it needs to be abolished. The federal gov't should not be running this program, it should be left to the states to decide if they want it. If they do then they need to have strict rules. Here in FL, when we get Scott in as governor, drug tests will be required. It is time for tough love, not this wimpy everyone is entitled crap. That is the biggest heap of crap I have ever heard. We need to bring back Limited gov't, personal responsibilty, free market enterprise, etc.... We need to get back to our founding document. The CONSTITUTION is the only SOLUTION. It worked and was tried and proven for well over 200 hundred yrs. Then the liberals got greedy, and corrupt repubs got greedy. So it is time to clean house. It is time to elect only CONSTITUTIONAL CONSERVATIVES. They will help get our country back on track. I also know that we need to abolish the party system, that may be closer to our grasp then anyone realizes. If we run as individuals with only american support, it gets rid of special interests and most of the corruption in Washington, and our gov't. That is what we need to do.

I agree we don't need the government running these programs. I disagree that the Constitution worked for over 200 years. I contend that it has never been properly administrated. Furthermore, the founding father of this country was a whorehopping drunk, just as most all who developed and signed the constitution. It is and always has been all about and for he who has the most gold. (a figure of speech). Same with Religion. People should simply as an apple pie be able to afford their own, rather than these games played, for the benefit of ones being more wealthy than others. People should be paid fair wages for a fair days work. The fact that certain ones take so much from the resources of the world and others have little to none is a pathetic social status, with a long enduring fairytale God to insure and justify it with intimidation and down right threats. Those having all the gold are deliberately creating the condition of those abusing the system. And trillions of "tax" dollars are needlessly collected daily, for the puroose of abuse of the system. We don't need a government of any kind running any show. We need people in office to do what we tell them, not the other way around. We need our resources properly utilized. Not abused. In my hometown I witnessed firsthand that the entire government structure was and is the number one source of the drug trafficking. Not just certain ones. All of them. Their planes were/are used. Their cops were/are used. And not just "drugs," but guns too. They run the eintire show the way they want to. Because they have been able to do it by virtue of being the holders of the gold. And it's the same in every hometown in America. They run thte show. More talk is not going to stop them, but contribute to more of the same.

We need action, yes, and talk leads to action card. As for the constitution never working, i disagree. When we have limited gov't, personal responsibility, free market enterprise, and all the other jazz, then yes it does. These new wages were made by lawmakers not the Constitution. None of the founders were drunks. This document did work. We will have to disagree on this one, which is fine. The problem we have now is the Fed gov't and corrupt businesses, oh and not to mention special interest groups. This is precisely why we need to take back our state sovereignty, so we can give the big FU to the gov't and the corrupt businesses trying to run the show.

What Obamacare does, in order to "insure" a small percentage of the population which isn't insured or prefers not to be insured ... including illegals by default, what it does and is in the process of doing is pushing those of us who do have insurance we like and that works for us off into the public sector. Those of us who would not be a drain on the public sector are being pushed into it. All of us will be on the government dole.

Instead of just figuring out a way to put the small percentage without insurance into a position of being able to get insured, they are taking everyone's away and putting us all into the position of being on the government dole.

So the main point GB seemed to be making is something most of us know and that I've spoken of in comments on Gather previously.

Because most private insurers will be pushed out of the market, and most of our own private insurance will probably not survive more than two or three years, ... we are next to be told what to eat, what not to eat, what to wear, what to grow, what business is allowed to be started ... what we do, think, eat, wear, weigh, what crops we raise, what we teach our children ... because it can all be related to our health according to what the gubmint thinks is preferable or financially viable ... or ideologically correct.
