Greetings Sistahs - Welcome to Fall Session of Shedding Light 2010. Many are returning and some have just joined. If you would like to join, please do so now until the end of next week. Welcome back to all the Sistahs who are continuing or who are coming out of hibernation. It's great to start off the new season with a great bunch of women! Remember in Shedding Light, please post only what you're asked to post. You may also join Salud at www.musings.gather.com and post all sorts of other things there. Also, if you have an up to date or even an old picture of yourself that you wish to post, please do so. Ok here we go:
We all have that wonderful ability to drop a rock in someone's pond and make Ripples. Those beautiful liquid circles that have no end. So, for this Fall, 2010 Session and Season of Shedding Light, we'll call our steps - Ripples.
Sistah Joanne sent me a card this summer that I framed. It's designed by a person named Sark who must be loads of fun.
I don't want to scan it but I will quote a couple of things from the card. It says: How to be Really Alive. Then lists many things such as: Live Juicy, Stamp out conformity, Stay in Bed all Day. Dream of Gypsy wagons. Find snails making love. It lists many more such as, Follow a child. Drink sunsets. Develop an astounding appetite for Books. The bottom line says, The Miracle is You. These are all simple, silly things but it gave me an idea for our First Ripple.
First Ripple: Please tell us something briefly about yourself Then List Ten Things - fun things - That Make you Smile - that you do - or observe or watch or even imagining yourself doing. This will help introduce you to the group. Don't limit yourself - if you're feeling creative and want to put this in a poetic form, go for it - you can post a picture also. Things that I like to do - me being Mariana T. :
Stare through lace curtains
Drink morning coffee listening to the sugar mill
Rock in Clothile (my rocker) to the sounds of Stan Getz
Sit on a soft cloud in the morning's pink sky
etc. To the new sistahs out there, I'm Mariana T. and I live in three different places. I'm 61 and am into natural health and enjoy being outside more than anything. I think we get back what we put out and our thoughts are like angels that run before us - so try to keep them good (though I know it's difficult!) Please send me a friend connection.
Also, Sistahs - here's a bit of Wisdom from my friend, Sharon Lee, the yoga and Montessori teacher here in my hometown. Read it twice!
While it’s true that spiritual aspiration is an inestimable good, sometimes there’s nothing better for the soul than falling flat on your face. You have to work with what you’ve got, and what you’ve got is who you are, and there’s no way around that.
Everybody, even the best of us, will sometimes behave ingloriously, and to think otherwise is to be hemmed in by vanity. As sad sinners wandering through samsara, one of the few things we can count on is that we are on occasion going to screw up miserably. For those of us who are exceptionally reliable in this regard, it is nothing less than a saving grace, is it not, that in our guise as servants, falling down on the job is the biggest part of the job, and sometimes, somehow, failure, if allowed to do its work, can actually be surprisingly emancipatory. It can even help make us whole. We have to try to be better—wiser, kinder, more generous—people, but mostly there’s no getting away from our embarrassing, maddening, harebrained selves. = ].
Remember... it's been a good day if you have given, even through kind words or a smile, forgiven, even one's own shortcomings, and to know that what one has, is truly enough.
Sistahs, I realized that three of you are just beginning. If you have any questions, please email me. Also, title this First Fall Ripple 2010 - Shedding Light or something close to that. Take your time. We are still recruiting new members but I know some of you are antsy to get started! Welcome to Fall 2010 Shedding Light! Thanks for being YOU! Salud
