"They" say that we celebrate Christian holidays and that the Jewish holidays usually fall around the same time, so we're accommodating Jewish students as well. And "they" say it's only fair that they celebrate (and close schools) for at least one Muslim holiday.
Well, I don't know where "they" have been. What used to be the Christmas vacation for kids is now known as Winter Holiday. And what used to be Easter vacation is now Spring Holiday and often doesn't even coincide with Easter any more. I know one family whose kids had three different "Spring vacation" schedules because we don't celebrate Easter any more.

And yet, even though they have a small number of Muslim students, Cambridge schools will start celebrating a Muslim holiday with school closing. That will only be the beginning, I'm sure.
