My dad is a pastor. When I was four, he took a church in a bad part of town. The people were poor, and he took a risk going there for many reasons. Across from the church was an adult's mental facility. It was supposedly for alcohol and drug abuse. And I can only guess that the lady from my following story came from that hospital.
One morning in church my dad asked if there were any prayer requests. A lady stood up and said a woman's name and requested prayer for this woman because she had cancer. My dad asked if it was a relative or something. She said, no, she's a lady on dool. She said she's a lady on dool and her husband is cheating on her so the cancer is making it harder. Everyone looked confused. My dad said, "Dool?"
The lady said yes, Days Of Our Lives.
Yes, folks, this lady was requesting prayer for a character on a soap opera. No, not the actress, a character. Dool was short for her soap opera.
