Those of us who are familiar with the show iCarly know that Spencer has a signature dish that he makes called spaghetti tacos. What you might not know is that there's apparently a great deal of interest in recreating the spaghetti taco recipe so that fans might eat them at home.
According to a report from Shine, kids everywhere are requesting this dish for dinner, and somewhat surprisingly, parents are stepping up to the stove and making the bizarre dish for them. The dish, which is Carly's favorite in the Nickelodeon show even dominated a section of the web searches yesterday. The good news is that parents don't have to blindly attempt to recreate the recipe themselves as there are already web listings with a full recipe such as the one here at BakeSpace.
So where did those ubiquitous spaghetti tacos originate from, anyway? Dan Schneider, creator of iCarly tells the Times where the dish came from, and it seems that even he had no clue how popular they were going to be with viewers. “It was just a little joke I came up with for one episode. Then it turned into a running joke. And now it’s this thing people actually do,†he said.
The spaghetti tacos have since appeared on numerous iCarly episodes, most notably "iCook" where the iCarly cast goes head to head with top chef Rickey Flame to see who's spaghetti taco recipe is better. Naturally, the iCarly kids won that one hands down. The dish has even prompted a Facebook group named I Wanna Try A Spaghetti Taco Like On iCarly.
Have your kids requested spaghetti tacos for dinner yet? If they do put in a request would you be willing to offer it up as a dinner solution?
