If someone was visiting your town for the first time, what local things would you make sure to show them?

I would show the Catholic Church which looks like it was transplanted from Paris. Also the local Army Reserve building which looks like a castle.

there might not be much to do around here but there are a lot of great historical spots here

That all depends on the visitor - likes and dis-likes - some go for culture and traditions and local foods others go for more entertainment and architecture - there's always something somewhere to show :-)

It depends on the person, but I'd probably take them to one of the resturants around here (foreign food most likely), to one of the farmers markets, local bakeries, one of the parks and some of the local store venues. There's a lot to see and do around here.

All sorts of country music related venues, museums, etc.
Nashville Zoo
Country Music Hall of Fame
Titans Game
Predators NHL Game
Andrew Jackson's House - The Hermitage
Civil war battlefields
Monell's - an awesome "pass the peas please" type of eatery.
Frist Center for the Arts
Union Station - old railroad station converted to a hotel.
Numerous Southern Plantations
Percy Warner Park
The Loveless Cafe
Tootsie's Orchid Lounge
The Ryman
The Grand Ole Opry
Fisk University's Georgia O'Keefe exhibit
Cheekwood Botanical Gardens
Vanderbilt University - numerous cultural and educational items
I am going to stop there because I could go on for days :)

Went to Nashville in '96 to see my good friend Floyd Cramer (yes, the same Floyd Cramer who played the piano with all the famous folks!) and saw all the Country stuff. Loved it!!!

I'd probably show them the Cowboy Heritage Museum (our town calls itself, "The Birthplace of the Cowboy"), the location where the John Wayne movie, "The Cowboys", was filmed, our beautiful riverside park, and I'd have to call around, but I'd locate the place where our elder ladies are quilting lately and take them to meet these talented and chatty ladies. I'd also take them to the Farmers' Market and a lovely little restaurant, called Sophia's, that serves amazing food.

My mother was born in Odense Denmark, birth place of Hans Christian Andersen. We saw his house (now a museum) when we went to Denmark in 1990.

Not the one I grew up in either....unless someone wants to go see a huge hole in the ground which would be one of our Kaolin mines.

Really good church and really good restaurant and since I live 10 minutes from Knotts Berry Farm, I take em there to get their boots scared off.

Easy - the Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh and the Nationality Rooms there. For those who don't know, these rooms, most used for classes, have been decorated in the style of different countries, the countries from which residents of Pittsburgh and the surrounding area immigrated. Every year they are decorated for the holidays the way houses were in whatever old country the room represents.

If the weather is nice, the view of the city from Mt. Washington is also a must see. Then there is the ride on the incline and finally the Strip District, which is nothing like it sounds. It's full of markets - food, touristy things, specialty items. But the Cathedral is my favorite building, ever, and a place I'd take anyone who comes to visit just because it is so interesting.

I live in a tiny town. I would show them the old mansion (from the founder of the area), the lake and the art gallery. That is about all we have. We only have a few other buildings here like a bank, a pizza place, post office, liquor store and a barber, and not much else.
