One of my very favorite songs--ever

Josh White, Jr. is a folk singer based in the metro Detroit area. I have heard him perform live many times. As a live performer he is one of the best. This song was recorded live at the Raven Gallery, a first-class folk music club that, before it burned down maybe twenty-five years ago. I forget who wrote this song, and I can't find it on the net. It's wonderfulo poetry as well as music. Enjoy.

A very nice tune. He sounds a bit like Harry Chapin to me.

Every verse is a gem, I think. I'm really glad you liked it. I've had my records put away for a long time, awaiting a turntable. I was ecstatioc to find this online. By the way, the whole album is super.
