This past weekend at the box office, The Social Network is causing quite a buzz. It debuted at number 1 and brought in $23 million.
The movie was directed by David Fincher and stars Andrew Garfield, Joseph Mazzello, Jesse Eisenberg, Patrick Maple and Justin Timberlake. It is about drama that unfolded during the early start up of the online social website, Facebook.
The film has earned some Academy Award buzz and hasÂ receivedÂ really good reviews. According to Rory Bruer, who is Sony's head of distribution, claims that The Social Network hasÂ potentialÂ of becoming a $100 million smash hit.
In the film, the history of Facebook is examined from Harvard University where it all started. Computer genius, Mark Zuckerberg (played by Jesse Eisenberg) along with his best friend Eduardo Saverin (played by Andrew Garfield set in motion the website that rose to over 500 million members and has stock that is worth billions. Also along with theÂ beginningÂ of the popular site, is a nasty legal battle that claimed other students had the idea before Zukerberg one of those being his buddy Saverin who claimed he was cheated out of millions.
This film looks really good. The trailer really catches your attention and makes you want to see more. It is great to see something that started from scratch to what it has now become.
