Michael Douglas’ family is closer than ever thanks to his throat cancer. Michael Douglas says he’s been very honest with his family, including his young children, about his cancer. In return, his family has been extremely supportive.
AZ Central states that Michael Douglas, 66, has even brought his two youngest children, Dylan, 10 and Carys, 7, with him to his chemotherapy treatments. Unfortunately, his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, 41, was quoted recently saying that she was unable to attend his treatments because it was too painful for her to see Michael Douglas in a weakened state.
People reports that along with his family’s support, Michael Douglas has received support from cancer survivors as well. Michael Douglas said, “My family has been very supportive. There’s not a lot that anybody can do. You’ve just got to kind of do the program. But it’s the world you [learn to] understand about cancer. You get to know cancer survivors, and the kind of support and outpouring I’ve been getting has just been amazing.â€
Celebrity Baby Scoop wrote that Michael Douglas is enjoying family time so much that he and Catherine Zeta Jones are making plans for an extended vacation. Michael Douglas said, “Catherine and I are talking about taking the kids out of school for a year and trying to go around the world – that would be nice… There are other things I want to do at this stage in life. I would like to finally learn some Spanish. But my focus is my family.â€
It’s wonderful to see Michael Douglas’ family rallying around him during his time of need. Hopefully, Michael Douglas will make a full recovery and be cancer free so that he and his family will be able to take their year long vacation. Those memories are the ones he will cherish forever.
