Banged-up St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson may end up missing the game on Sunday versus the Seattle Seahawks after missing his second consecutive practice on Thursday, according to several reports.
Since being injured in the Rams' 30-16 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday, Jackson's groin and leg are still hampering the star ball carrier, The Associated Press reports. He is reportedly experiencing tightness in both areas.
While he is mentally preparing for the game, Jackson may need to give the injuries some time before they are completely healed. How much time? That's anyone's guess at this point.
If Jackson is shelved for the game at home against Seattle on Sunday, running back Kenneth Darby will likely get the nod. Darby did a decent job in place of Jackson against Washington, tallying 49 yards on 14 carries.
Losing Jackson will put the St. Louis offense at a distinctive disadvantage against the upstart Seahawks (2-1), led by new coach Pete Carroll. While Darby is an athletic back, there are very few skilled offensive players who can run and catch the ball as well as Jackson can.
There is a silver lining for St. Louis (1-2): Neither Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo nor Jackson have officially ruled the running back out for Sunday's game. However, St. Louis would be best served to give Jackson the game off and game plan accordingly with Darby as the no. 1 ball carrier.
With or without Jackson, the Rams will have their work cut out for them considering how Seattle has won the past 10 contests, the AP reports.
