Sad news today out of California. The beachfront home of Ricki Lake has been destroyed by flames. She was able to get out safely with her two sons and the family dog, but the home could not be saved.
According to KABC, the fire started Saturday morning, and it closed down part of the Pacific Coast Highway due to the flames. Ricki Lake was renting the home, and she is responsible for accidently starting the fire when she tried to refuel a portable heater she was using. The couch caught fire.
A statement was released by Lake's representative, Howard Bragman, and it stated the following: "She is very grateful that she, her two sons and their dog escaped unharmed and is grateful to everyone who helped her family."
The fire was out by 8am Saturday morning. The mile long stretch of Pacific Coast Highway surrouding the actresses' home was re-opened by 1030am. Sounds like a scary morning for the actress and her family. Good to hear that she is alright, and that no one was injured.
