Last night may have been the finale of Top Chef Washington, D.C., but there were many that were not surprised by the finale's announcement of the winner, New Jersey native Kevin Sbraga. Â That's not to say that he was the obvious choice - quite the opposite. Â This season's contestants were on the most level playing field to date, and going into the season finale, Angelo was the clear choice for many. Â But those who visited BravoTV.com prior to the finale last night at 10/9c found the surprised ruined, with the site displaying a video where Andy Cohen, the host of the Top Chef and other Bravo reunion shows (many of you may recognize him from the buzzworthy Real Housewives of New Jersey finale last week), congratulated Sbraga on his win. Â Oops.
Though the surprise was spoiled for some, the episode still held its drama, with Angelo suffering from a migraine and nearly missing the opportunity to compete in the final challenge. Â Top Chef also took a different approach to the final challenge, with the three remaining chefs asked to compete using the same main ingredient for each course, and also being mandated to make dessert.
When Sbraga was announced, were you surprised? Â Do you think that he deserved to win? Â Do you feel that the judges chose him based on his performance in the final challenge alone, or that they considered the entire season's performance in their decision?

I'm not surprise angelo didn't win, after he put porkbelly in the vegetable course, but I thought Kevin and Ed were tied.
