I was going through the picture files from my trip to Nova Scotia in 2006 and found a picture I took of a cookbook page. I don't remember what book it was. I do remember the store was in Antagonish on the way to Baddeck. We stopped into this restaurant on the main street there and a few doors down was this used book shop. I had to stop in.
I couldn't buy all the books I wanted to so I took a picture of the page of this recipe instead. It sounded really good. What also sounded great were the seafood appetizers mentioned at the bottom - unfortunately they got cut off.
Here is the recipe I wanted so badly I took a picture of it. For garlic lovers only...
Knockout Garlic Dip
4 crushed garlic cloves
1 egg yolk
1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 whole green onions, chopped
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup vegetable oil
Place all the ingredients, except the oil, in a blender or food processor fitted with S blade. Whirl until well mixed. Comtinuing to whirl, add the oil, drop by drop, then increasingly in a slow steady stream until all the oil is added. Whirl until light and creamy.
Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour to blend the flavors. The dip will keep well for several days. Serve in a bowl surrounded with lots of colorful vegetable crudites.
