Leave it to Lady Gaga to wear raw meat at the MTV VMA's.
Gaga explained her meat dress to Ellen Degeneres, after accepting her award for video of the year. "Well, it is certainly no disrespect to anyone that is vegan or vegetarian. As you know, I am the most judgment-free human being on the earth. However, it has many interpretations but for me this evening. If we don't stand
up for what we believe in and if we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our own bones. And, I am not a piece of meat" (via USA Today).
This isn't the first time that Gaga has worn meat. She was in a sort of meat bikini on her cover of Vogue Magazine.
What's interesting is that Gaga didn't smell. Or maybe she did. But dance choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson hugged her before she went to accept her award, and didn't even seem to flinch at the cow.
It's cool that Gaga wore a meat dress. Really cool. Of course it gives those people over at PETA something to do this week, but it also allowed Gaga to voice her opinions by way of her outfits, which she always manages to do so well.
And, naturally, Gaga got the set: a matching meat hat, meat shoes, and a meat purse - which she asked Cher to hold, and then joked about it.
