Clergy Of Many Faiths Come Together To Denounce...

Gainesville's Dove World Outreach Ministries has planned a public burning of Korans on September 11 even though they have been denied a public burn permit by the city of Gainesville.

Under Section 10-63, "Open burning and outdoor burning are prohibited in the City of Gainesville unless otherwise specifically permitted as provided by this article."

On September 2 clergy of many different faiths came together for a press conference in Gainseville to denounce the Koran burning. To view the entire press conference click here.

So anyone that believes that the mosque should be built, shouldnt have any problem with this. It is just as insensitive...just on the other foot.

I don't think the mosque should be built.
HOWEVER, I also wish the people that were planning to burn the Korans would instead use their energy, time, resources and money for something more constructive.

I agree with the group encouraging them not to do it.
There is better ways to make a point.

Christians burn Korans then Muslims will burn Bibles. This will lead to nothing good. You would think in this day and time that people would recognize that book burnings are never a good thing! The leaders of this church need to work on bringing people together instead of being divisive.

The only possible point of book burning is to publically display the burner's own ignorance.

it is the SAME ignorance as building the mosque. I believe they are doing it to make a point. I think it would be a wise thing not to do the burning but threatening to do so is showing how insensitivity can be harmful...even if it is legal.

Terry Jones is a self-promoting, self-righteous, sanctimonious fool. Burning the Qu'ran (whichever translation, or in the original) will accomplish nothing except what it already has... the self-aggrandizement of Terry Jones, and the unnecessary angering (like they need an excuse) of the asshats of the Muslim world... the jihadists who think it's a good death to blow up fellow Muslims to teach us a lesson.
