With the first week of the college football schedule now over, here is a look at 5 games you missed but shouldn't have.
#5-Appalachian State 42 Chattanooga 41. The Mountaineers scored 28 points in the fourth quarter capped by a fumble return by QB DeAndre Presley for a touchdown that gave the Mountaineers a 42-35 lead. Chattanooga scored with just 51 seconds remaining in the game and decided to go for the win with a 2 point conversion, but QB B.J. Coleman's pass fell incomplete in the end zone to give the Mountaineers the victory. The two teams combined for over 970 yards in offense with each team rushing for over 140 yards and passing for 340 yards.
#4-Troy 30 Bowling Green 27. With the game tied and Bowling Green driving into Troy's territory, Tony Davis of Troy picked off a pass just over a minute left. Freshmen QB Corey Robinson then drove the Trojan's downfield and K Michael Taylor booted a 34 yard field goal with just four seconds left for the victory.
#3-Army 31 East. Michigan 27. FB Jared Hassin rumbled into the end zone with 38 seconds remaining to give the Black Knights a come from behind victory over the Eagles. Eastern Michigan took the lead with just under three minutes in the contest when QB Alex Gillett hit WR Ben Thayer in the back of the end zone that gave the Eagles a 27-24 lead.
#2-North Dakota State 6 Kansas 3. This big upset did not get much mention due to the win by Jacksonville State over Ole'Miss. but the Bison ruined Turner Gill's coaching debut for the Jayhawks. In a game controlled by defense the Bison's forced three turnovers in picking up a huge win against Kansas. The Bison only managed 168 total yards but the two field goals by K Ryan Jastram was all that was needed for the win.
#1-Florida Atlantic 32 UAB 31. This game had it all, a big lead wasted by Blazers who were leading 28-12 in the third quarter. The Owls of Florida Atlantic took the lead with 4:11 remaining when RB Alfred Morris broke free for a 38 yard touchdown. The Blazers responded by driving the length of the field to the Owls 11 yard line and an attempt to win the game was halted when a field goal attempt was blocked on the final play of the game by Florida Atlantic, sealing the victory for the Owls.
