I just heard this on the FOX news. A woman accidentally sold her house to a guy because she thought she did a "re-finance". Somehow the guy got the title of her house, and she's paying the guy monthly payment (just like a mortgage she thought she re-financed). Then she got behind on her house payment, so the guy kicked her out of the house. Then she sued him and got 3.3 million dollars. She said the money helped but was not enough for the distress she went through.
I agree that the guy was doing bad things and should be punished, but the woman had to be ignorant to not know that she transferred the title. And if she had actually re-financed her house with an honest banker and got behind on the house payment, she would have lost the house anyway. She should be grateful that she got the 3.3 million dollars which she can buy a much better house plus a big chunk of change.

My brother went to refinance his house and found out the title was never transferred to his name. Yikes!
3.3 million dollars? Someone needs to take that money from her and manage it for her. She might do it again.
This older fellow had his own business and a comfortable economic situation. A young woman befriended him and they maried. Then the brother of the woman explained to the older gentleman that if he deeded the house over to his young wife, and put his assets in her name, then they would save a bundle in estate taxes when he died. So he did so. Subsequently his wife told him that he didn't live there anymore, leaving him penniless.
