Hey everyone! The upcoming t.v. season promises great installments of my favorite shows. You know how much I love Survivor, and Survivor: Nicaragua might be one of the best ever. Amazing Race is always great...and Donald Trump's Apprentice offers an unique slate of contestants, people who have lost jobs and are down-and-out as a result of the recession.
So, who's going to be watching these shows this fall? I think Survivor: Nicaragua (I hope I've got the location right) kicks off this week. While this isn't a celebrity Survivor, the contestants almost all those profiled on the website are well-known or almost celebrities. The best known is Jimmy Johnson, former Dallas Cowboy coach. Talk about entering the game with a target on his back. The others include several models and a few musicians.
I don't know much about this season's Amazing Race, but it's always full of surprises.
The Apprentice, though, is one of those shows that could only happen in America. A few of these have graduated high school in the past few years and have been unable to find a job. The rest are mid-career professionals who have saw years of hard work evaporate after business bankruptcies and corporate layoffs. A few have even lost homes. The prize is the same as it was for the original Apprentice, a year of working with the Donald at $250,000.
I was just thinking of the good (even great) old days of gather not so long ago, when we enjoyed chats almost every night. I really miss those days...a lot of you became closer to me than my real-life friends at the time. The chats might have been based on a t.v. show, but the conversation went everywhere. Participants rotated in hosting duties.
I'm just sending out a feeler with this post...would anyone be interested in reviving these chats? I know all of us are busy and the point system doesn't really make it profitable. But it was a good way to spend an hour.
Have a great holiday weekend, friends!
