Here in Washington we have the American Goldfinch. It is unremarkable in early spring but as summer approaches the soft brown turns brilliant yellow and black. My grandson Caeden used to love yellow...anything yellow. He called it "Lellow". I wrote him a fun story about how the American Goldfinch turns yellow. Bruce painted some watercolors and we turned the story/illustrations into a book that was a Christmas gift when he was a little guy. Good memories.

Thanks Chris. When the grands were little tykes and loved sitting on the knee for a good book I was determined to write one for each of them. I was able to get 4 done before they grew into wonderful big kids.

Fall colors, yes, though they aren't nearly as good here as in Michigan. Colder weather, not so much.
