A new website called "The Blaze" has been launched by Glenn Beck and is being hailed as a news and opinion site focusing on politics. Beck has achieved great success on TV and radio, with book publishing and a recent rally, according to thefoxnation.com, so the latest venture seems the next in his growing enterprise.
According to the story at thefoxnation.com, the new site will be edited by Scott Baker, who used to be part of Breitbart TV and was the host of “The B-Cast." Beck released a statement regarding the new site, saying:
"Our hope is that everyone who comes to The Blaze finds original reporting, insightful opinions and engaging videos about the stories that matter most. We are excited to launch and I look forward to keeping Scott and his team busy by sending countless ideas at 3am every morning."
Beck is certainly striking while the iron is hot. He is obviously looking to capitalize on his significant political clout and the hangover effect from his recent public appearance, and what better way to do so than with an outlet people can utilize 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
How the site will be received remains something of a question, and probably depends on the content. If it gets treated as a gossip-style site, it could put some hardcore political people off, though who knows if that's who Beck really wants, anyway.
The one thing we do know, at least of late, is if Beck puts his name on it, people will at least check it out. So expect the new site to have a successful start.
Where it goes from there is anyone's guess.
