Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers has made NLF history in a way we never saw coming. He currently holds the all time record for football’s most expensive head of hair. Oh yes, Troy Polamalu is certainly known for his loving locks, but took it to a whole new level when approached by Head & Shoulders to do commercials last year. Not one to say no, Troy showed off his gorgeous tresses for all to see (I just had a flashback to Brett Favre promoting Sensodyne toothpaste).
But now, things are really getting interesting, as Lloyds of London has just insured Polamalu’s hair for $1,000,000, going hand in hand with the Head & Shoulders sponsorship. Troy was quoted as saying, "Head & Shoulders has gone above and beyond by insuring my Samoan locks for a cool $1 million dollars. This reinforces that my full and thick hair is unstoppable." If you think you are in some sort of twilight zone, please know that this is really happening. Besides this generous endorsement deal, the safety is known from the tackle viewed ‘round the world, in which the Chief ‘s Larry Johnson brought Polamalu down to the ground by his hair, during the 2006 season.
