You're Invited to a New Group ~ Models Among Us

Today I decided to start a new group and would like to invite each of you to join.  The group, Models Among Us, will be for bimonthly challenges.  The very first challenge of the group will begin September 1st and run through September 15th.

In hopes of making the virgin challenge easy, our first model will be the Butterfly.  Each submission for the challenge should depict the butterfly or butterflies.  If you aren't a photographer, do not worry, you may submit a story about butterflies.

Please tag your submission with:  models among us, models, butterfly, butterflies.  You may also put the dates in the title if you wish.

You may enter photos/images/drawings, stories, poetry, photo essays or videos as long as they pertain to the model.  Please limit your submissions to five.  It can be 5 for one particular category (5 photos, 5 stories, or 5 videos) or equal 5 spread over each category (2 photos, 2 stories, 1 photo essay).  Please ask if you have any questions!

Be creative and have fun.  I look forward to seeing you all in the group.

Hello Jen! It's so good to see you. That's a good question. Yes, I will be featuring the submission. I figured if there were enough entries I would do a first, second, and third place...maybe an honorable mention in each category (i.e. photos, writings, and photo essays). I will begin by judging them but if there is enough members and participation later I may ask the members to help with the judging.
I hope you will consider participating. Have fun :o)

Hello Rene! Thank you for stopping by. I understand how people can miss the deadline. I get so far behind and then try to play catch up, but I got a phone call last night and I think my hectic days are about to decrease (at least I hope so).

I'm looking forward to your participation in the challenges. I am going to look through all the entries today and will post the "winners" by the end of the day (that is my intention anyway).

Count me in. One question. Do the photos have to be taken new for the challenge? I have photos from last summer's butterfly exhibit at Olbricht.

If not I have some from 2 weeks ago also at Olbricht. A Painted Lady was sun bathing on a tree there LOL

Hi Jen ~ I'm glad you'll be coming along to post your models on the runway. I would like the photos to be relatively recent...within the last 6 months or so. So maybe you can use the ones from 2 weeks ago.

Most nutritionists say it is healthy to eat foods with many colors. Of course that is easy for people who eat snack foods that contain many FDA approved color additives. Of course Easter eggs are colorful, but this healthy food choice only happens once a year. However, the idea of different colors for beef, chicken and other sources of protein has never caught on. People tend to like protein sources to have natural colors and frankly speaking most protein foods have a very bland color. To overcome this with a healthy colorful alternative, the butterfly is a possibility. Yummy.

That's why "green eggs and ham" are so popular in some places. So, yes, it is a possibility the fluttering colors would be healthy. I suppose one must not cook them too long or there will be chances of losing some of the color. (you always make me smile and for that....I thank you)

This will be a real challenge for me, since I usually don't write poetry by assignment and I don't think I've captured any butterflies with my camera lately. But I have a few more days to let this simmer. We'll see what happens. Meanwhile, I can appreciate what others have written.

on the challenges do you want all new uploads that have not been on gather before? or is it ok to edit older photos and submit to the group. Im curious as to the rules on that

Hi Angela ~ My original intentions were to have all new photos/posts...but some people don't have very recent photos. So as I told Jen in the comments above, I would like them to have been taken within the last 6 months or so. Since this is the first challenge, the rules may not have been very clear to everyone. I will be posting the rules with the next challenge and will most likely leave it as 6 months or less ~ unless of course members have other suggestions.

I hope this helps. And please ask any questions you have because if you have them then someone else may have the same question. Thanks again for your participation in the group!
