True Grit ~ movie remake

It opens December 25, 2010. And is based mostly on Charles Portis's novel, not a remake of the original movie.

Jeff Bridges will play John Wayne's roll in the remake of "True Grit." I think he is a very good choice.

 

In the original movie, John Wayne covered his left eye for John Ford, who lost vision in that eye when he removed bandages too soon after a cataract operation.
Noone knows why Bridges decided to cover the other eye. Wayne was 61 when he did the movie and Bridges will be 61 in December.

 

The movie will also star another Coens alum, Josh Brolin, along with Barry Pepper and Matt Damon. 

 

I just loved this movie. I can't wait to see this one. Heck I love all John Wayne movies. lol =)

Hmmmmmmm, but nobody can ever replace John Wayne....LOL! I'm sure my hubby wouldn't think of going to the new movie, as he's a John Wayne fanatic and would always be comparing the other guy to John Wayne!

This should be really good. I never liked Kim Darby. I loved Glen Campbell and the Duke, but she got on my nerves,lol.

I liked the movie. I thought no to a remake until I read that Jeff Bridges will play Rooster Cogburn. Perfect choice!

I remember going to the theater and watching True Grit on the big screen.

I think now is a good time (40+ years) to remake this movie. I grew up watching John Wayne and many of his movies are rated as some of my favorites including this one. I would, however, be interested in how the new one plays out.

I like them both - Wayne was a good one - made some seriously good movies - Bridges makes a good follow up and has a good reputation too - good luck with the re-makes. Thanks for sharing :-))

There will never be another 'John Wayne', but I might see the Movie because I really like

One of the few remakes I have watched and would recommend. There is no replacing John Wayne, but I think he would give Jeff two thumbs up for HIS true grit!
