Coverage of the 2010 PGA Championship and updates on the 2010 PGA Championship leaderboard have been delayed this morning due to a lot of fog at the Whistling Straights course in Wisconsin. Â First round coverage is about to begin, with the first golfers taking to the course right now. Â The first 2010 PGA Championship tee times were supposed to take place at 7 a.m. local time, but most of the morning tee times were pushed back three hours in order to let the air clear. Â Without even trying, this could actually become a good thing, because it means that more golfers will be on the course during the television coverage. Â Here is the full television coverage for anyone interested in viewing some of the 2010 PGA Championship today.
Through the first 15 players that took to the course, there were five that ended up shooting a birdie on their first hole, including Tim Petrovic, Bo Van Pelt, Rickie Fowler, Stuart Appleby, and Soren Kjeldsen. Â Not a bad start, but the big names are going to be hitting the course a bit later today. Â Phil Mickelson has a tee time of 4:45 p.m. local time, Tiger Woods takes to the course at 11:30 a.m. local time, and Woods will be accompanied by defending champion Y.E. Yang in that threesome.
The 2010 PGA Championship leaderboard will progress through the day, and hopefully the weather continues to hold up so that all of the golfers can finish their first rounds. Â There is a lot on the line this weekend in the PGA Championship, including the No. 1 spot on the PGA Tour, the most Ryder Cup points of any remaining tournament in 2010, and of course the story of whether or not Y.E. Yang can repeat as champion. Â Maybe we could even see a brand new name break out from the field and surprise everyone at the final major of 2010.
