That dome of heat is finally pushing up toward us, providing some superb summer beach weather. I regret those that do not have a beach nearby. Or beaches, like the PNW, where it's too cold to enjoy them. My spot on Lake Michigan is just a few minutes away, and the place to be and join the crowds. It's a must to escape that AC workplace early for fun in the sun.
The season is short, and we enjoy our summer sun. Comfy warm 90's are welcome, and I rarely use the word hot. Wednesday was irresistable, the blue sky and bright sun under windless skies. May I say, it was HOT! It must have felt like 126° on that beach. The sand was scorching, and didn't cool off for being barefoot til about 4pm. Humidity is bouncing around from 88 - 98%. Now that's ideal beach weather.
Best of all is the lake. It may sound strange after seeing icebergs in the Spring, but the water is now 77 - 80°. Awesome and refreshing. Lake Michigan is fresh water, so you don't get that salty residue. No need to rinse your water toys, boats, or fishing gear to remove corrosive salt. Flat seas and crystal clear water make for great snorkeling that can rival the Caribbean, minus the colorful tropical fish of course.
As the day ends and it cools down to 85, sit a spell. If conditions are right, you'll get treated to one of the ever changing and spectacular over the water sunsets. Perhaps brilliant reds, yellows and gold will fill the sky. And usually that huge fireball as it sinks over the horizon.
Yeah for summer. The icemaker has been on overtime to keep the cooler cold, and we have definately boosted the economy with beer sales!
Sad that it's mid-August already.
Thanks for stopping by today.
