Yes, the Perseids are back for your viewing pleasure!
It’s hot and sticky tonight but after a day full of wicked thunderstorms, at least it’s not raining anymore where I am…
If you are a night owl like me, you might want to step outside to see if you can get a view of the annual Perseid  Meteor showers! They are supposed to be happening tonight and Thursday night.
The best tip to view them: Get as far away from the city and any lights as possible… drive out to the boonies if you have to.  The darker the better.
Â

Â
We used to make a special night  of it with our kids—pop a big bag of popcorn, slather on the bug spray and head out to a dark spot. Then we’d spread out a blanket and ‘ooohhh’ and ‘ahhhh ‘ for hours over God’s amazing light show in the sky. One of the things I miss now that we don't live in the country anymore.
Â
According to Astronomy magazine,†This year's shower, which peaks the night of August 12/13, promises to be among the Perseids' best. Observers can expect to see more than 60, and perhaps 100, meteors per hour. About half as many will be visible the night before and after.â€
How cool is that!
Have you ever taken the time to watch meteor showers?

(just curious-- I love to travel, but I never heard of that before)
Even have seen the northern lights there.
I ADORE moose. (Hey, shouldn't the plural of that actually be meese? Like in the sentence; "There is one goose but there are several geese." )
For several years during the monthlong summer vacations we took to different states, I searched for moose. Even through Grand Tetons National Park, where the rangers assured me I would definitely see a moose sometime on our trip, I NEVER saw one!
Then one warm sunny day when we were driving through the Bighorn National Forest, there she was..... Momma moose with baby beside her!
I was awestruck.
We pulled over and watched them for almost an hour, when a bus full of rude foreign tourists came and they disembarked and kept getting closer and closer to her.
It was then I decided we had to leave.
I knew if I was that momma moose, what I'd have done to those tourists, and I didn't want to watch her do it to them.
