It is so special. Yes, if you find the photos, please post.........I will be posting more.
I don't frequent the east end I am a west end girl,
great history be careful of your french though, several mistakes,
such as une jeunesse Montrealaise, une is out of place because jeunesse Montrealaise ,means montreal youth (plural), the french expression used in montreal would be une jeune montrealais
:O)
Since I left home, I left behind the high class for the real. I've stayed in the real.
I want to be there now!
now back to the MS for moi.
We pretend we are not.
He also said he thought whites were now a minority in Toronto, which is two things:
Racist and probably not true.
The fact that he openly says these things also hits upon the great, but subtle cultural divide that separates the US and Canada.
Social programs are wonderful in Canada.
Quebec is idiosyncratic, since it is Napoleonic law. Women are not allowed to use their husband's name. The law changed a few years ago, and women who had taken their husband's name after marriage had to switch back to their maiden name. Too confusing, the Govt. said.
A lot of corruption in the Govt. still. My sister wanted to expand her garage and sought a building permit. She paid the money, filled out the papers. "Just one more thing." They called her in. "Just one more thing and you are all set." They waited. She was not clued in. She left. No building permit. This went back and forth for another year. Someone told her outright that she must slip them a little something to push through the permit. She said she was not going to do that. No building permit until she did that. Quebec, with a population of 6 million or so, has as many bureaucrats as the entire state of California.
We assume Canada is more like the US than it is.
With today's technology of hidden cameras, etc., it would seem to be easy to expose corruption.
You are probably right about the Western Provinces, as opposed to the Eastern provinces. I've only lived in PQ and Ont. and only traveled to AB, BC... and the Maritimes.
