Today's Reality TV Monday Review begins with 'Big Brother', winds through the semi-finals on 'Top Shot' and finishes with the season finale of 'Mary Knows Best'. So let's begin with our favorite hamsters in the BB house.
As we last left the House Guests (HGs), Ty-Dy Kristen was evicted wearing her hippy-leotards and funkadelic wig. Her shoes sucked, too. Yoga Girl had no taste, or brains, and paid the price.
After eviction, the HGs competed for HoH by clinging on to a giant spinning paint can. From time to time, Big Brother would shoot paint at them or swat them with a giant paint brush. Rachel, the outgoing HoH, cheered her man Brendon on, making the rest sick.
Kathy bailed out first and became the only Have-Not who will eat slop the rest of the week. The rest started falling off starting with Enzo, then Brendon, followed by Lane, Britney and Hayden. This left Ragan and Matt facing off in an endurance challenge. What's with these two?
After about an hour and nine minutes, Ragan finally lost his grip and careened off the spinning paint can. Matt didn't know at first since his googles were coated in fresh paint. But Matt won HoH for the second time!
Right away, Rachel tried sucking up to Matt. These two alternating HoHs would make a good team if they could ally themselves. But Matt's loyalties are with 'The Brigade', a truly useless bunch of brawny bozos (Hayden, Enzo & Lane). They insisted to Matt that he not make any deals or crazy plans and put Brendon and Rachel up for eviction.
Meanwhile, Matt is given the chance to open Pandora's Box. He decides to do so. His prize is the Diamond Power of Veto (DPoV) which he can use anytime in the next two weeks. Not only can he save himself, but the DPoV allows Matt to choose his replacement for eviction. But by opening Pandora's Box, there is a downside which will affect the whole BB household.
Ragan is called into the Diary Room and gets a note telling him that America has chosen him to the new Saboteur. If he accepts, he'll have to perform three acts of sabotage each of two weeks. If successful and not evicted, he'll win $20,000! Ragan hems and haws and finally decides to accept it. Had he not, then BB would have offered the job to the runner up in America's vote - Enzo.
Matt tells all that he opened Pandora's Box but only won $1 dollar. He still had his $1 card from the first HoH challenge to use to prove his lie. But nobody believed him and Matt figured that out. Then the HGs called summoned into the Living Room where the Saboteur announces his return on the flat screen. Everyone wonders who the new Saboteur might be?
Rachel tries to chat up Matt about saving herself but instead gets into a catfight with Ragan. Brendon intervenes and Rachel asks them both to leave so she can talk with Matt alone. Rachel and Brendon are having issues now that she sees Brendon as being less than helpful in winning HoH challenges. Her talks with Matt go nowhere, sending Rachel into a weepy mood.
Matt does in fact put Brendon and Rachel up for eviction. He tells the power couple that it's nothing personal, they're the strongest players and Matt adds that he's certain on of them will win PoV anyway.
----------------------- SPOILER ALERT!!! ------------------------------
Britney won PoV, second time in a row. She did not use it. Brendon went ballistic on Britney during the PoV ceremony in an effort to save Rachel and alienate himself. But everybody saw through it and knows Rachel is more of a threat than Brendon. Ragan and Matt hatched a cruel plan to make Rachel think Brendon's trick worked and he's the one to be evicted this week. OUCH!
On 'Top Shot' the seven remaining marksmen are now on their own competing as individuals. Colby told them that one is going home immediately after this next challenge.
Each gets ten shots with a Beretta 92F 9mm to shot apart a burning fuse before it explodes a small bomb. In the case of a tie, the shortest fuse wins. During the first round, only Peter and Adam succeeded and are safe. During Round Two, Chris, JJ and Iain succeed. For the final tie breaker, Blake and Kelly faced off with one shot at a standard round target. Closest to the center wins. Blake is a world champion but Kid Kelly beat him!
For the next Elimination Challenge, Colby gave them a day to practice with the help of former Navy SEAL Craig Sawyer. The gang will have to run and then score hits with four weapons, a TZ99 9mm pistol, a HK93 rifle, and two other rifles, the Mossen Ganant and the SVT-40.
The next day, the task is to dash their way, one at a time, up a steep hill to four shooting platforms. From each platform, fire the weapon on hand at targets below. Kelly goes first and completes all four shots perfectly in 1:30. Peter goes next and does likewise in 1:21. Chris edged out Peter's time by 79/100ths of a second, saving him. Peter is finally liberated by Iain who completes the course in 1:25. Adam saves Iain due to missing one shot and finishes with a time of 1 minute, 36 seconds.
Finally it's JJ's turn. Kelly hopes JJ has trouble with rifles as he usually does. But not only does JJ hit all four targets with a single shot, he breaks everybody's time with 1:20! Kelly and Adam say their goodbyes. Next week is the grand finale!
'Mary Knows Best' had her short-season finale Thursday. Jackie pursues a career as a plus-sized model. Chris needs his back hair removed. Mary does marathon psychic readings. She's doing like 200 a day between her radio show, plus group and private client sessions.
Jackie hatches a plot with Uncle Charlie, and later her father, to set Mary up with a date. They create a profile for her at an online singles website. Mary suspects something when she stops by Uncle Charlie's place and finds he and Jackie with a pile of profile print-outs on single men. Mary puts her foot down and nixes the whole scheme.
Meanwhile, Chris goes to a wax-salon to deal with his back-side. I felt really sorry for the poor girl doing the job. Not only did she have to mow his yukky 'lawn' but she also had to listen to him pontificate about his motivational speaking tour. I hope he left her a good tip!
Tune in next week for more updates on Reality TV Monday! We'll be reviewing more of the latest news from the Big Brother house, plus the season finale of 'Top Shot".
