Don't quite make 'em like they used to. 'Cept around here, we still got ourselves a few. Half a dozen of the best ones just up and died off this year, though. Got disgusted, I guess, and just called it quits. A shame. 'Cause they were the true blue variety. Some folks still raisin' up some fine-looking sprouts. Good thing, too, 'cause we need more like those old guys or we'll all lose somethin' mighty special!

I love the character, the actor and he's a nice guy too. He lives a few miles from where I am at. I see him around town a lot and he is Awesome! Always smiling, says hello.

One of my favorite actors is Tommy Lee Jones...

Who, of course co-starred alongside Duvall in Lonseome Dove. What a great pair they made!

What a nice tribute, Dan. I remember when it first came on. I think we spent almost a week in*Lonesome Dove* and then my husband got the book and spent another week reading it.

We catch the bits of the the reruns when it comes on. Doesn't matter what part we happen to tune in on, it's fine and hubs regularly quotes dialog in Gus *voice*.
