How cool is this?

So today I was reading someone's blog and they were talking about voice recognition. They were saying that those with Vista or windows 7 probably already has voice recognition on their computer. So I started to look around. And I found it. How cool is that? So I am writing this post using voice recognition and it's so cool. Mostly the reason I'm posting this is to try out the voice recognition. I am having so much fun. Is anyone else out there using voice recognition?

click start then click control panel then scroll down and click speech recognition. Then follow the instructions. How fun. Thanks L. C.

Speech Recognition is in the Control Panel If you click the start button and type those words, the link will appear for you.

Oh, if your are talking about the accessibility feature fro Windows, I agree with Nancy, annoying yet, if I am writing a large document or one for publication I will use it but just to read it back to me so I can listen for mistakes or readability.

I just read your text again Diane and not much on punctuation and paragraphs. Those are very important in writing even informal text.

I have VISTA and XP but couldn't find it under Control Panel. Cool, though.

Does it recognize when to create a paragraph, or is that a user knowledge-based feature? With my arthritis getting worse and needing a new computer I would be interested in something like this yet, I am not a talker, much more of a deep thinker and writer.

Yes J you can say scroll, or new paragraph, or click submit as long as what you want it to do is showing on your page. Also if you want to click something but don't know what to call it you can say show numbers and it will superimpose numbers on everything showing on the page then you say the number where you want to click and say ok and the computer will do it. Apparently windows 7 and vista have this already on the computer. It's great fun.

So you dictate your sentence and at the end of your sentence say period and it will add your punctuation.

I am such an extemporaneous writer I never write what I say if I must form the sentence with my mouth I loose the pure thought, speaking and thinking are not as closely related in the way the brain functions. To prove it studies have been done and found that written language is much richer and well presented than speaking the same thought. I shall stick to manual writing and leave that stuff to Microsoft ---which I will not buy again.

My brother bought the software years ago because he is a slow hunt and peck typist. It couldn't recognize his Texas twang. I'll have him see if they've improved it.

We have it in Windows 7 but I don't use it. Elisa used to, I don't know if she still does. I know my iPhone has voice recognition. It's awesome on the iPhone!
