Pam Anderson recently slams Janet Jackson over her new Blackglama ad campaign. It seems both Pam Anderson and PETA are in an uproar over the singer's choice to hawk expensive fur products for a new campaign. Jackson previously had discussions with PETA officials explaining her anti-fur beliefs.
However, just recently Janet Jackson started up with the Blackglama 'What Becomes a Legend Most' campaign. She appears on the front page of Blackglama.com wearing the dark fur coat as part of the 2010 Legends Campaign. While it may look striking on Janet and help some sales, one particular celeb is not interested in Janet's pitch. Actress Pam Anderson recently let it be known how displeased she is by Janet's decision. Anderson told Out magazine:
"It's disappointing. She has spoken out against fur before. I don't know why some people stop listening to their heart. I guess some people get greedy, but it's sad."
PETA spokeswoman Amanda Schinke has also added comments from the animal rights activists group, saying:
"Surely she knows enough about suffering and unjustified death to recognize that both occur in the production of a fur coat. We are asking her to think again and to donate these stolen skins to be used as bedding for animals orphaned by other human-caused disasters, such as loss of habitat."
Not only was the above statement sent forth via the media, but the Senior Vice President of PETA, Dan Matthews, also sent an inquiring letter to Jackson, saying they discussed her opinions on the topic before. Matthews notes Janet told him that she was "even wary of wearing fake fur" due to concerns it might be real or look real. Matthews asks Janet "What happened?"
It will be interesting to see what Miss Jackson responds regarding all this. Will she enter into a public battle with blond bombshell Pam Anderson, who recently had a provocative PETA ad banned in Canada? Jackson, the 44-year-old singer, is the latest who is part of promoting Blackglama. Previous celebrities involved in campaigns include Lena Horne, Lauren Bacall and Diana Ross. Maybe Janet feels if a Supreme legend like Diana did it, a singing diva like herself can promote the fur?
