Is Tom Hardy Gay or Bisexual? The Inception...

Tom Hardy, one of the stars of Inception, recently gave an interview to NOW Magazine that has some people asking, "Is Tom Hardy gay?"

Tom Hardy was asked about having gay sex during the NOW interview. He responded, "Of course I have. I'm an actor for f*ck's sake." He went on to explain that he no longer finds sex with men interesting.

Hardy also said he needs and values relationships with men for other reasons, especially gay men. Tom Hardy being gay or bisexual seems an interesting question to ask against that statement.

So is Tom Hardy gay? Not from the looks of it. He's engaged to British actress Charlotte Riley and has a two-year-old son with a previous girlfriend. Hardy also calls his gay affairs experimentation.

Saying Tom Hardy is gay is denying him his life experience and right to self-identify. Also, based on his behavior, he's not gay. He's historically bisexual but identifies as straight due to his current attraction patterns.

So no, Tom Hardy is not gay. But Hardy is a sexy leading man who says he's had sex with men. That still makes him a refreshing change from the usual gay denial syndrome.

Anyone claiming Tom Hardy's gay can likely have a long chat with Charlotte Riley about it, too.

What a stupid story! Once is experimentation. More than that is bisexuality at the very least. It's great he's honest about his past, but saying that it was his past doesn't make him straight. He's just in a straight relationship. Your attraction to either/or is NOT about sex only. You can be a virgin and be gay, straight, or bi. It's an attraction, duh. I'm sure his attraction for men won't change, it' will always be there. Whether he acts on it or not doesn't make him one way or the other. I say he's bisexual. Plain and simple.

I said he calls himself straight. and being bisexual means he's not gay, doesn't it? I also decline to call someone something he doesn't accept as a label. Perhaps you should learn tolerance in that department.

Furthermore, who are you to tell him he still wants to have sex with men if he says he doesn't? Some people do lose their desire for one gender or another over time. Some become asexual. Some people who start out asexual develop an interest in sex. Human sexuality is far more fluid than you seem to understand.

Indeed, Brenda. Which is why putting labels on people's sexuality has always seemed a bit odd to me. It seems a lot like the Casta system that the Spanish colonies used in the 17th century. If you screw one guy, you're straight; two, you're bi; and three or more, you're gay. And all of this for the purposes of fulfilling the desires of some to fit people into their little pigeonholes, usually to discriminate against the people being pigeonholed.

Face it, folks -- humans are humans, and they will do what all humans have done since there were humans; that is, screw like bunnies. Who they screw with, and how they identify themselves in doing so, is nobody's business but theirs.

I fear there are reasons, especially in times like these, for the terms and labels. People presume in the wake of nothing else being said. Visibility to teach people not to assume requires the terms to be used. And public weddings are but one way people are given public license to show off who they have sex with. So it is other people's business by dint of how society is constructed.
