The township of Millburn/Short Hills is widely known for its affluence and generosity. Potential new homeowners know that they are moving into a warm and caring community because of all the good work being done between neighbors. Community members take care of each other here. Some of the ways that people look out for each other are through Down the Block, Inc and the United Way of Millburn-Short Hills.
Â
Down the Block, Inc is an organization created by township resident Wendi Weill, to help township residents with unexpected financial setbacks to pay their bills. Down the Block, Inc supports the township and in turn the township supports Down the Block, Inc. When the United Way of Millburn-Short Hills discovered that one third of the Down the Block applicants were single parents, they gave Down the Block, Inc a special grant to help these families. Founder Weill expressed her gratitude for this grant, explaining that many single parent households have nowhere else to turn other than Down the Block, Inc. For more information, requirements or applications for Down the Block, you may visit Down the Block’s website: www.DowntheBlock.org or call (973) 943-1424. There are plenty beautiful and affluent neighborhoods in New Jersey. Finding a place with a community bent on caring for each other is not as common. Potential new homeowners know that they have found a special place when they hear about initiatives such as Down the Block, Inc and the United Way of Millburn-Short Hills. Single parents and traditional families alike should feel very happy about moving to such a generous, accepting and helpful community.
