What is a Shop Smith

This is the model we had. I was looking and there are some versions selling for $4000. Our set up was about $2500 when we bought it  over twenty years ago. The plan was that hubby would use the tools and quit smoking, financially a good trade. It did not happen. He was good with the Shop Smith, but he never quit smoking.

All kinds of woodworking. It works really well, if you know which dials to turn and which pieces to add on or take off or which way to tilt the blade.

They often have demonstrations in large malls and at State Fairs.

Maybe, but he died of Lou Gehrig's disease. In his case it was familial. He quit smoking when he went to the nursing home, and said he wished he had done it years before.
