Gun Rights
If ever there was a clear case for having a concealed gun. This is it, Oklahoma break-in Saturday, July 15. Two thugs break into apartment of single woman. She screams the one had a knife to her throat [she thought, it was actually a screwdriver]. They wanted her to undress, she pleaded with them and finally was allowed to crawl on the floor to her purse. She reached into her purse and shot first one then the other. She is alive today because she did exactly right, keep them distracted. One died in the hospital the other will stand trial.
When I read something like this, I remember my own experiences. I am alive today because I had a gun.
Oklahoma laws are good for innocent people. Texas has good gun laws also. I don’t know the laws of every state. More states need laws where a woman can protect herself.

Next day we went to Wal-mart and got her a shorty shotgun.
Loonies will find every effective ways to kill that don't involve guns OR if they have nice absolutist laws like in Europe-still find guns. Stricter laws are making no difference except their are far fewer self defense killings in places with them.
It might be good to light the load a little.
Just like the lady above.
Florida last year passed the 'home is your castle' law which means that unlike before you do not have to show that you tried to retreat. You just have to convince a jury that you felt threatened with harm or felony theft.
It's pretty clear that the robbers in the story were complete idiots. A competent robber never would have allowed the woman to touch her purse.
I've been robbed at gunpoint a couple of times. Both times there was no way my having a gun would have helped me a bit. Trust me, I've run over both incidents thousands of times in my mind.
That's why having pepper mace is very best. That's what I've always kept with me when I was out at night.
If they take it away from you it won't kill you.
on the street? sure unless you are there knowing it can happen and are fully aware of your surroundings. At home? If you are willing to use it, not so much.
At one time in my life I carried one of the damn heavy things for a living, three times I very glad I had it, twice I felt I had to pull it, once I fired a round into the air, (different days then), nobody hurt, but it damn sure settled things every time. I'd have shot if I had to, THAT is the difference between the erroneous mantra you cite above, and reality.
I imagine that if you had been paying closer attention you could have avoided being robbed. I'm guessing but usually that is the case. If you aren't cowboy nuts carrying a weapon will MAKE you pay close attention. It just seems to work that way.
Not for everybody. the people the old saw you cite are those it's not for.
Gun use and safety should be taught in grade school
i do tho have a prob with shooting to kill unless a gun is aimed at u
...i mean why not shoot off kneecaps ?
pepper mace would tho be less messy
but 3 do.
huh?
i donno.
Would you not protect yourself if needed Thomas?
who by order of his cat
has come to slice out your pancreas
as gift to his gods?
or maybe one who speaks another language?
im not knocking your way of thinking,
I would find it quite beautiful
if it wasnt sooooo illogical
im not sure that "maturity" includes
denying that at some point
we may be faced with
kill or be killed.
