MAX WATCHING.

Seeing the senorita in
The corner of the bar,
Max stood watching,

Making up his mind
Whether to go over
And chat her up or

Just sit awhile and
See what turned out.
He sat, eyeing her

Carefully, taking in
Her dress and hair and
The simple beauty of

Her sitting there. You’re
A long time dead, his
Grandmother often said,

Don’t let a moment go
By without grabbing at
It and making your mark

Or bite or kiss or what
Have you. The senorita
Looked around as if

Waiting for someone
To arrive; her red lips
Compressed tight; her

Eyes peering like some
Hawk. Max lit a cigarette,
Took a deep inhalation,

Studied the senorita’s
Dress, how it kind of
Dip where the breasts

Sat, and he liked looking
At that, and exhaling he
Felt a sudden urge to go

Plant a kiss on her lips
Or hair or cheek or…but
He didn’t he just sat and

Watched as a big senor
Leant over her and put his
Lips to her hair and head;

Yes, Max thought, Grandma
Was right, when she said,
You’re a long time dead.

It's usually a good thing to use restraint when wishing to kiss a stranger. You never know when a burly guy might come along, and beat you senseless. Te he!
