Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have accepted undisclosed damages in London’s High Court. Brangelina won their suit against a British Tabloid that falsely reported that the couple had split. Pitt and Jolie claimed the report was falsely made and there was no evidence to indicate what the report had stated.
According to nydailynews, the couple sued the Bristish tabloid after it published a story indicating Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were on the verge of splitting. The tabloid went on say Brangelina had planned to divide their assets as well as make arrangements for the custody of their children.
Keith Schilling, Pitt and Jolie’s attorney, noted that the British tabloid left the couple no choice but to sue,
"When the News of the World failed to publicly retract the allegations and apologize for them - thereby leaving their readers in the dark as to the true position - the couple felt they had no alternative than to sue. Today's victory marks the end of the litigation brought by Brad and Angelina."
It must be encouraging for other celebrities to hear that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were able to sue for slander and win. Many people read the tabloids and will believe anything they says!
