New! Lay's Garden Tomato & Basil Potato Chips

Lay's makes great chips and when Sassy saw these new Lay's Garden Tomato & Basil potato chips on sale, she had to try them out.  Regular price $3.99 for a 10.5 ounce bag, on sale for $2.99

From the package: "made with all natural potatoes and seasonings"

What I found really odd is that there's a recipe on the back of the bag for Tomato & Basil Soup which does not contain any of these potato chips.  And potato chips would seem an odd accompaniment to soup.

These are pretty good, but there's something not right about potato chips seasoned like pasta sauce.  With all the other wonderful potato chips on the market, I won't be buying these again.

On a scale of one to ten, Sassy awards Lay's Garden Tomato & Basil potato chips a 4. According to the Lay's website, these are available only in the Midwest and Heartland states.

I know lots of restaurants who will give you chips with your soup.:)

I like Lay's and I'd give these a try - every time I see a new kinda chip I'll pick one up for the next football party - that way I don't have to eat it if I don't like it - usually somebody will like it.

Hmm, that's interesting. I just bought some last night that looked good that were the new North Carolina BBQ flavor. They were really good. Pretty "tangy" just like the bag said. Now I know why I didn't see this flavor next to it! LOL

I bought those, too, but I haven't opened the bag yet. I'm expecting them to be goooooooood!

Like Courtney, I picked up the NC BBW ones, I didn't see these but I see where you mention they're only in the midwest. The bbq ones were good. Thanks for saving me from these if we ever do get them.

Not a big fan of Lay's. I'll eat them if available, but I don't seek them out.

My weakness is Middleswarth. They're not organic. They contain trans fat. They are truly junk food. Oh, but they are one of those guilty pleasures...

You eat some junk food??? They must be really good. I've never heard of them and I usually look over the chip aisle pretty closely

Yes, I eat some junk food. :-)

Middleswarth are a regional food. They aren't available out your way; I'm not even certain if they make it as far west as Ohio.

I think chips do compliment a bowl of soup for lunch...
but as for all of these strange flavored types....

I love tomatoes and basil. I think I would prefer the real thing to chips, though!
