Despite their ongoing divorce proceedings, Mel Gibson's estranged wife, Robyn Gibson, comes to his defense against abuse allegations recently made by Mel's mistress Oksana Grigorieva.
Grigorieva has accused Mel of hitting her while she was holding their then nine month old daughter. Â Robyn was quoted on People.com as saying "Mel never engaged in any physical abuse of any kind towards me before, during, or after our marriage." Â Robyn and Mel have been married for 30 years and have seven children together. Â She claims that the statements were made in order to prevent any assumptions being made about her family.
In addition to Robyn, all of Gibson's children are reported to be standing by their father during his recent struggles. Â A family source reported to People.com that the family had had concerns about Oksana's motives from the beginning, but do admit that Mel needs to get help for his anger issues.
I suppose I can understand defending your husband of 30 years and  your father who has supported you for your entire life, but in this case I think the family just needs to stay out of it.  This whole situation has gotten so out of hand, and I can't imagine why Mel Gibson's family wants to stick by him.  His ship is obviously sinking, perhaps they should consider jumping in the life raft.

What is needed, is for people to mind there own business, and pray that Mel sees the help that he nows is available. -- A self-centered attitude, and huge ego contriubute to poor decision-making on the part of an alcoholic who is still drinking...and unfortunately damage is done to others, not only to himself. Perhaps we all need to be taaing our own inventory, and instead of others.
