Over the past several years I have featured my gardens in several photo/essays showing the changes from spring and then into the summer This year it seems, I have been remiss and haven't done one photo/essay. Rose probably thought from all Magi and my wanderings, I had let the gardens go to seed. But that isn't the case. When we returned from our trip down South, the irises, both Siberian and Bearded were beginning to bloom.

The irises put on a great show for three weeks and then they died back, but by then the hydrangeas, columbine and coriopsis were taking center stage.

In the garden closest to the house, you can see the bee balm just forming their buds.
Behind Sophie, the yellow flowers are Evening primroses and the blue flowers are catnip. Â
And that's Ophelia under the blueberry bush. Â Â

Butterflies and dragonflies love the tall flocks. Â

And then the lilies began to bloom.
When the firecracker bee balms opened, Magi planted himself on the porch, camera in hand, waiting patiently for the hummingbirds to come visiting.

Like Job, he was rewarded.
Can you see the hummingbird in this image in the upper hand left corner.? This is an incredible capture. They move so quickly...darting from one flower to the next.
On the side yard, through the arbor is the path down to the stairs going down to the pond. Things are also blooming here.

This is my new blueheron that I received last year for Christmas. Â
These last three shots were taken yesterday, Rose, so you can see, despite all the trapsing around, the garden flourishes. At times, it looks like a jungle.
But as yet, we haven't managed to find the time to plant the garden pots. Maybe tomorrow..... Images by Magi and Bob |

Oh we must have lunch.....
Yes, we must do lunch soon.
Your gardens are so beautiful, colorful and simply devine.
Thank you so much for sharing with Animal & Nature photos, videos and posts.
'Garden of Eden', I'd say! :)
Thank-You for Sharing.
Thanks for sharing with Gather's Best Writers and Artists. Now featured.
Your garden is giving me so much joy now, I think I'm going to explode!
And all this joy is complimented by this music I'm listening "I Love Paris"
by Eddie Calvert.
Thank you so much for sharing this joy among us Gatherites!
Warmly,
Marie
I'm sure Magi enjoyed weeding.
My garden is not doing so well. I haven't been well enough to tend it. Most of June was just brutal healthwise for me. I could not exercise and gained 10 pounds. I've been able to get 7 lbs back off this month. I'm much better, but also way behind on most everything.
Hugs and blessings - S.
Oh how lovely, Bob. I am so glad I asked, "How does your garden grow?", whenever I see an iris I always think of your garden and the one a family friend had when I was a kid - very much like yours.
I would love to wander about in your garden and then enjoy the view from the porch with a glass of wine. Your kitties are divine, everyone needs a couple of kitties to grace their garden - better then any statue:)
Where to begin - I love it all and those hummingbird shots are really special. This is the first year I planted bee balm (in a pot) where it looks like it might actually bloom too. Yours is just spectacular.
The colors - well - darling, they just sing!
Speaking of design - the arch looks perfect where you placed it. I finally got a white round arch for the veggie garden which has turned into a field of weeds. I just can't deal with the garden in this heat. I'm hoping for rain and a brief respite so I can clean it up for the season and give a little attention to the remaining flowers.
I find a garden is always a work in progress which is wonderful and vexing at the same time.
Anyway, Elizabeth, your garden is beautiful - in fact I'd say ready for a spread in any garden magazine - and yes, they should start listening to you and have a summer garden tour!
I'm smiling, Bernadette. We had a big strawberry patch on the side of the house....I could always find my Aaron out there as a preschooler just picking and munching early in the morn.
