A 33-year old Denver man drove his car off a 496-foot cliff and survived. Anthoney L. Buckner was likely drinking and driving when his 1990 Toyota hatchback careened down 496 feet and left him relatively unscathed. His Toyota, however, was "pretty mangled," according to police. The accident took place on Red Mountain Pass near Silverton, Colorado.
It was a seat belt that likely save Anthoney Buckner from his drive off the 496-foot cliff, according to Trooper Jonathan Silver. Silver noted that slick roads likely contributed to the crash, but that Buckner should never have been driving.
Why is it that these things happens? A perfectly sober mother of four who skidded and dropped her minivan down a 496-foot dive would likely have died, but this drunk emerges with barely a scratch on him.
The drunks are usually the ones who kill others instead of themselves, while they walk away often times with little more than a slap on the wrist.
I hope his drive of the 496-foot cliff instills the wrath of God into Anthoney Buckner, and that he thinks twice....maybe even three or four times before he drinks and drives again. Even better, I hope he is incarcerated and loses his license for a good long time, allowing plenty of options to contemplate his own stupidity.
