I was pleased to be able to squeeze two magazine subscriptions out of Coke Rewards for my local library yesterday. They tell me that my donated subscriptions are saving them $200-$300 a year and, in fact, I was told yesterday that periodicals is where they've had to cut back so they can keep up with their computer expenses.
They're getting a year each of Teen Vogue and Traditional Home. These had to be picked up as substitutes for a couple that are expiring...lack of availability for renewal required we select some different titles. As you may recall, I'm not interested in most of Coke's offers for myself. And although they offer a number of magazine titles, my interests are a little too esoteric for what they offer. However, the situation does present a number of opportunities to help out the library with magazine subscriptions...so that's what I've done. Adds a minute amount of luster to my sagging karma.
I'm still personally benefitting form a few survey sites and the like, but Coke Rewards is strictly for subscriptions.
This idea can be adapted for your own area to help out the public library, school library, nursing home, anywhere where magazines are in common use. Perhaps you have an interesting twist on this yourself.
