A tourist boat with 37 people on board turned overturned on Delaware river after it was hit by a large barge. Out of the 37 tourists on board of the amphibious "duck boat", two were still missing. According to CNN, David Umberger, the Coast Guard's civilian search and rescue controller, "We are continuing our search, and we have all of our port partners engaged in that search-and-rescue case, including the state police, Philly police, fire department, good samaritans and the Coast Guard."
Witnesses report hearing screams as the barge hit the boat and also remembered life vests almost immediately popping up. Despite two people still missing, no other serious injuring are being reported at this time.
Wow, this is crazy! I’ve gone on the Duck Tours in Boston that also use the amphibious vehicles to take tourists down the Charles River. I can’t even imagine the boat capsizing. I’m glad the authorities quickly got most people rescued and out of the water, and I hope the remaining 2 passengers are found alive.
