Eat royal hair jam? Jam made from one of Princess Diana's hair is up for sale. The jam maker claims to have made the "occult jam" as part of a surrealist exhibit in London. London's Barbican Art Gallery where the jam is being sold holds the works of Salvador Kali and Rene Margritte.
The five pound jar of jam costs $7.60, but with a hair of Princess Diana inside it becomes art and food. Sam Bompas says the jam is made by infusing a tiny speck of Diana's hair into the process of jam making, by infusing it with gin which is then combined with milk and sugar to create a product with a taste resembling condensed milk, according to MSNBC.
The hair was allegedly bought on Ebay for $10.00 from a U.S. dealer. The dealer collects celebrity hair and sells it in tiny parts.
What is the connection to the surreal theme? Bompas says, it is to provoke people into thinking about food marketing, and how language enhances the eating experience.
Now, I say, yuck! Of course it does make you think more about that hair that disgusted you the last time you ate out, and if you are what you eat, does that make you royal?
