At Coney Island’s annual 4th of July hot dog stuffing contest, ie Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, Joey Chestnut wins again. As he shoved down 54 hot dogs in 10 minutes, his rival and hot dog eating champion for 6 years, Takeru Kobayashi, watched jealously from the crowd.
Kobayashi had not signed a contract with the Major League of Eating, so could not compete in this competition. Nonetheless, he stormed the stage after the competition, and has been taken into custody. According to USA Today’s website, he held onto the barricades as police dragged him away.
Meanwhile, although Chestnut downed an impressive number of hot dogs, he still fell short of his world record, which was a stomach-turning 68 hot dogs. This is Chestnut's 4th straight Mustard Yellow Belt.
Despite the lack of suspense at the contest, Chestnut took a moment to mock the fallen Kobayashi. “If he were a real man, he'd be on the stage.â€
With words like that, Chestnut should probably keep his mouth full.
